Home composting
To all parish residents – can we encourage you to start making compost at home? More people making compost from their garden &/or food waste has many benefits including:
- reduced carbon emissions due to fewer journeys transporting waste to council tips and incinerators
- no need to buy commercially produced compost ie less plastic bags & less £££
- healthier and more drought resistant soil and plants in our gardens
- more carbon locked into soil
- no need for bonfires
- less pressure on Council resources
Composting helps people to feel they are doing something proactive to combat climate change by closing the ‘waste loop’ in their home.
Gloucestershire County Council want to support residents to start composting. They are offering:
- £15 off your first compost bin at: Composting | Gloucestershire Recycles
- Learn how to compost via this FREE Garden Organic online course at: https://gardenorganic.mylearningapp.com/enrol/index.php?id=44
