The Parish Council are sorry to hear of the recent death of David Thombs. He was always a fount of useful knowledge which he shared generously with the Council and the wider community. His kind and often humorous advice will be sadly missed. His part in the Slimbridge Neighbourhood Development plan, chairing the group, and writing many reports, was invaluable. Chairman Mike Stayte expressed “I first met David after my re-election to the Parish Council and I listened and understood his sensible observations  on the proposed building development at Wisloe. He managed to put into single words what the District Council put over as jargon. His wealth of knowledge was outstanding, such that his advice was never ignored. I also admired his patience on explaining the importance of the Local Plan to the Parish Councillors and its relevance to the people of Slimbridge. David had the ability to understand our failings and to make sure we fully realised the significance of the various Stroud District Council proposals. He was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed.”
